Today is Hat Day! Cost is $.50 in first period and proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Also today, we will be hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament after school. Each team must have one boy and one girl. Sign-up sheets are by the gym. Cost is $9/team. Money can be turned in to Mr. Hamilton in Room 205.

Next week, May 1-5, during lunch, we will have a change war between grade levels. The class that raises the most money gets bragging rights and a popsicle party. Donations will benefit the Boys & Girls Club and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

EJHS will be having a Dodgeball Tournament on May 4 starting at 2:30 pm. You will need a team of six. The total cost for each team will be $18 ($3 per person). If you are not participating in the tournament, there will be no fee. There will be concessions for snacks. The funds will be split between the Police Department and the Food Pantry. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Richardson in Room 205.

An email has been sent from Mrs. Fletcher to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys that includes a link to the sign-up form for the Indianapolis Speedway for Motorsports STEM/Career Day on Monday, May 15. This date is a snow make-up day for RBB Schools and there is no school that day. If you are able to have transportation to EJHS to catch the bus, as well as a ride home from school afterwards, and are interested in attending, please complete the sign-up form via the link in your email.

Students should check their email on a daily basis for important information that could be sent from the office or your teachers. Please adopt this practice.

Nutrition Club and the American Heart Association will be hosting a Hoops for Heart field day event on May 17 during related arts classes. Students will have the option of staying in their related arts class, or purchasing a ticket and attending the event. There will be a variety of stations, and raffle prizes, such as shirts and Indianapolis Indians tickets. To attend, you must purchase a ticket and tickets will be sold again on Monday. For $5 you can get a shirt and a ticket, or for $3 you can just get the ticket. Shirts will ONLY be available for order during this time. Make sure you grab your ticket to be able to attend.

The Monroe County 4-H Program is putting on a Natural Resource/Ecology Field Day at Flatwoods Park tomorrow. The event is open to all students in grades 3 through 12, even if they are not a 4-H member. There will be professionals from four different natural resource/ecology career areas conducting hands-on activities and teaching about what makes a habitat healthy. More information will be forthcoming.

The Ellettsville Parks & Recreation Board is holding an essay contest for its Memorial Day Program, with the following rules and prizes:
Essay contest is open to children in grades 1-12, with one overall winner from grades 1-6 and one overall winner from grades 7-12. The subject is "The True Meaning of Memorial Day." Word range is 500-750 words and the deadline for submission is April 30, 2017. Contact hnethery2@yahoo.com with questions and to submit an entry. Authors relinquish all rights to the winning essays. A reminder that shorts must be at least finger-tip length - "running shorts" are not permitted.

Our end-of-year movie outing will be May 25! Students who receive discipline records on or after May 1 may be in danger of not going to the movie. A few students will be informed of their missed opportunity to go because of a high number of discipline records.

Yearbook sales online have ended. There are still a small number of copies available for ordering through the office, but money must be turned in when ordering. Cash or check to EJHS are acceptable.
