Fifth Grade Classes Celebrating the Hour of Code

The Hour of Code is a global movement that introduces students to computer science and show that anyone can learn the basics of coding. Mrs. Milliern's and Mrs. DeMoss's classes particpated in activiities celebrating the Hour of Code this past week. Led by Garrison DeMoss, a Five-Star programmer, and Megan Abbott, a former RBB teacher who now teaches in the IU Kelly School of Business, the students were introduced to the basic idea of computer languages through a simulation game. The students used coding language to tell a "robot" to move cups around to achieve specific configuartions of the cups. After this hands-on simulation, the students then logged onto the website to practice the newly acquired coding skills!
