Many people in the community remember well their fifth grade trip to Bradford Woods. May 7, 8, and 9th the class of 2021 made their own memories at Indiana University's outdoor learning camp. This year 150 students enjoyed the beautiful weather as they hiked, danced, and participated in a variety of environmental activities.
The third graders at E.I.S., as well as the fourth and fifth grade students, recently participated in the Science Fair at the annual Math/Science Night. Students, and their supportive parents and families, worked very hard on the exhibited scientific method or inquiry projects. Students shared their knowledge with their classmates through oral presentations in class and then were given the opportunity to look at all of the wonderful projects on Thursday, April 24th, from 6:00-8:00pm. Many other exhibits and demonstrations were also available for students and families to see during the program, which was made possible through the efforts of the P.T.O., admininstrators, and Mrs. DeMoss, a fourth grade tacher.
EIS Box Tops DriveEIS just kicked off their annual Box Top Drive on April 1st. Students are encouraged to get the help of their family members to collect Box Tops from cereal boxes, fruit snacks, and any other participating products. Students can bring them into school where they will work with their classmates to make groups of 50 to turn in to the PTO. EIS students have risen to the challenge over the past few years, meeting their goal each year. This year’s goal is 25,000 Box Tops! The classroom that brings in the most Box Tops between April 1 and May 23 at each grade level will win a “build your own” ice cream party. If the whole school reaches their goal of 25,000 Box Tops, all students will get some popsicles on one of those hot May days to end the year. Money from Box Tops goes to the PTO who uses the money to invest in the students at EIS. Money from this venture has been used in the past to help purchase additional playground equipment, picnic tables, fund Field Day and support the 5th graders’ annual trip to Bradford Woods. Keep your eyes open for Box Tops around the house and help EIS reach their goal of 25,000 Box Tops!
